Those of you interested in the recent discussions of Zachariah, his
mother's murder and his Union pledge.....may want to read the wonderful
book by George Elliot May - "Port Republic- The History of a Shenandoah
Valley River Town." It is a good history of early settlers and their lives.

Among the places it is available is through *The Society of Port Republic
Preservationists, Inc., *the group that keeps the Port Republic museum
afloat. http://www.portrepublicmuseum.org/ (BTW, I do not benefit from
the sale of this book.)
