In celebration of Native American Heritage month, Out of the Box blog
looks at documents concerning the Gingaskin Indians. The Accomac
Indians, part of the group collectively referred to as Powhatan Indians,
became known as the Gingaskins when they accepted a patent for their
ancestral lands in Northampton County. In 1813, the Gingaskins
experienced the first instance of termination of reservation lands and
detribalization of its owners in U.S. history. See today's blog entry
