Seek Tax record for Jack R. Witt (AKA John R. Witt) to see when he dropped from sight
in Bedford Co., VA.

THE ILLUSIVE JACK R. WITT
Jack R. Witt was charged in "Breach of Peace" Order Book entries in 1811, 1816, 1817, and 1819.
He was not listed in the 1820 nor 1830 Census of Bedford Co., VA.
He was listed as father of Angelina Witt, who married Wiatt (Wyatt) Crane in 1836.
(Wyatt & Angelina (Witt) Crane were listed in the 1840 and 1850 Census of LaFayette Co., MO)
It is "believed" that Jack R. Witt married Sally Mahew (Mayhew) in 1811 in Bedford Co., VA.

This Jack R. Witt is not to be confused with the other contemporary men named John Witt
of Bedford Co., VA, namely:

1.  John Witt, who was levy-free in 1821
2.  John B. (Buckingham) Witt, who married Betsy Beard in 1805
3.  John Witt, who married Jane White in 1803.

Thinking that knowing when he dropped from Tax Rolls, and perhaps knowing his neighbors.
might help identify this Jack R. Witt.

Wayne Witt Bates
