I find this list to encourage my interest in the subject of Slavery in
pre-civil war America. And because of my interest, I opened my new
issue of New England Ancestors Holiday 2008 Vol 9, nos 5-6 this
morning instead of filing it in the "after Christmas Pile". What
caught my attention is the article that is featured on the cover:
Crossing Borders Slavery in Two New England Families. This article
appears on page 20 and is written by Rev David Allen Pettee.

It is a fascinating account of the author's research on his own slave
owning ancestor and also on the slave family owned by his family.
Because I enjoyed reading it so much, I thought that I would pass
along the information in case someone on the list would also find it
of interest, too. This is not a Virginia family, but I think that you
will find his research to be inspiring and thought provoking. Marsha
Moses
