Titheables

A titheable lists were taken in order to tax all males, in each precinct as
a payment to the Church, which in turn supposedly took care of indigents
and orphans. In Loudoun County, titheable lists, which were abstracted in
the year 1770-1774 were also charged tax for Wheel Carriages and paid for
Squirrel scalps, and in some cases paid for Wolf heads. The number mentioned
were for all male titheables, as well as for Negroes.
