Once upon a time the National Genealogical Society offered a very good
genealogy course by correspondence. I took it in 1981. Does anyone know if
it is still available?

The University of Florida also offered one (I wrote it) from 1990 until last
year but our enrollment dropped so low that it was discontinued.

But there must be some around somewhere. It is a VERY worthwhile investment
for a new researcher! It teaches you how to locate the original records and
how to interpret and evaluate what you have found.
