I am hoping someone on this list can point me in the right direction. I am
trying to get some information on the 10th VA Regiment which was later
renamed the 6th VA Regiment.

I have an ancestor who served in this regiment and since there were two men
in VA with the same name [spelled differently] there has been much confusion
and I just received two DAR papers who have the wrong man's Regiment listed.

I was able to obtain the index to the "Special Index to Numbered Records
collections 1775-1783" and "General Index to Compiled Military Service
Records" These are the index that NARA uses when we order from them. I found
all of the men [with multiple spellings of the surname McMullan] and their
units and when I started looking at the records, I was pretty sure I had the
right one and copied 3 years worth of muster roll cards.

I am compiling the military history of this man, from his enlistment until he
*disappears* from the rolls in 1779. What I am hoping you can direct me
towards is someone who is very familiar with the battles, camps, and towns
that the soldiers might be in. I have used the book _A Guide to VA Military
Organizations in the Am Rev. 1774-1887_ by E.M. Sanchez-Saavedra. It is a
HUGE help. But does not list the places that the muster cards do.

please send me there.  I want to share this article I am writing with others
but want it as accurate as it can be before doing so.
