I am trying to find my extended family of McCartys. I believe that Joseph McCarty is my ggggrandfather but this is as far as I can go. The census records show:

MCCARTY JNO VA ROCKBRIDGE NO TWP LISTED 1810 00100 10100
[1 male 16-25, 1 female <10, 1 female 16-25]. No other McCartys in Rockbridge County in 1810.
MCCARTY JOSEPH VA ROCKBRIDGE LEXINGTON 1820 011210 10001
[1 male <10, 1 male 26-44, 1 female 26-44] difficult to read.
MCCARTY JAMES VA ROCKBRIDGE LEXINGTON 1820 000010 10201
[1 male 26-44, 1 female <10, 2 females 16-25, 1 female >45]
MCCARTY JUSTIN VA ROCKBRIDGE LEXINGTON 1820 200010 20001
[2 males <10, 1 male 26-44, 2 females <10, 1 female >45]

However, there is also a John McCardy 210010 00110
[2 males <10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 26-45, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 26-45]
and an Andrew McCurdy 100010 10010
[1 male <10, 1 male 26-45, 1 female <10, 1 female 26-45]
in Lexington, Rockbridge County, in the 1820 US census.
[The Heritage Quest copy of this census report is very faint and nearly illegible.]

My GUESS is that Joseph, James, Justin, and perhaps John and Andrew, are
brothers and their father is John (Jno.), but I have no proof.

The 1810 US census shows:
1810 > Pennsylvania > WASHINGTON > MORRIS Series: M252 Roll: 57 Page: 95
MCCARTY JOSEPH PA WASHINGTON MORRIS 10001 10010 00
[1 male 0-9, 1 male >45, 1 female 0-9, 1 female 26-44].

The 1810 US census also shows:
1810 > VIRGINIA > ROCKBRIDGE > NO TWP LISTED Series M252 Roll 70 Page 783
MCCARTY JNO VA	ROCKBRIDGE	00100 10100 [1 male 16-25, 1 female <10, 1 female 16-25]

By 1830:
CENSUS 1830 > VIRGINIA > ROCKBRIDGE > NO TWP LISTED Series: M19 Roll: 199 Page: 319
Andrew McCurdy 01100001 00130001
[1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 10-15, 3 females15-20, 1 female 50-60]
John McCurdy 01100001 010001
[1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 30-40]
CENSUS 1830 > VIRGINIA > ROCKBRIDGE > NO TWP LISTED Series: M19 Roll: 199 Page: 318
James C? McCarty 110001 100001
[1 male <5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 30-40, 1 female <5, 1 female 30-40]
Augustine McCarty 11011 020001
[1 male <5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 15-20, 1 male 20-30, 2 females 5-10, 1 female 30-40]

(I have a perfect yDNA (25 SNPs) match with a descendant of this James C. McCarty.)
