AND C is most likely a partial translation of the Latin ET CETERA. In English you usually see it written as an abbreviation ETC.
ET means AND and CETERA means THE REMAINING, THE REST or THE OTHERS.
Hopes that helps

I don't know what it stands for, but it means "and others" - sort of like
an early "etc.". It means there are others listed in the deed.

JUST a thought, but if it means "and others" then C may stand for 'and
Company.

In Oct. 2001 H. (Heather?) Hurley sent me info on the above persons
in Louisville, Ky ca 1880. In upgrading my e-mail and changing ISPs
I lost this record. Need to find H. Hurley.

Well, since the original question was what was the meaning of "and c"
after a landowner's name, your comment is a little insulting and
condescending. If you can find the definition for that one in your
dictionary, maybe you can let us all know.

Subject: FBM?
A friend has asked about occasional references found in early- or
mid-ninteenth century Virginia land tax returns to persons identified as
"FBM."
What was that abbreviation supposed to mean?
FPC meant "Free Person of Color" and FN meant "Free Negro" so did FBM mean
something like Free Black Male or Free Born Mulatto? How would we know?
