I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my query re: my ggg grand father,
John N. Huffman and his service to the Confederate States of America. You
guys are great!

Final confirmation/documentation came from Charles in Appomattox who wrote,
"John N. Huffman, resident of New Castle, Craig County, was drafted into
Company F, 30th Battalion VA Sharpshooters on 31 January 1863 at Craig
County. He was on the rolls as of 25 December 1864. His wife's name was
Margaret. SOURCE: 30th Battalion Virginia Infantry by P. Michael West."

That nails it down. According to census records, the family was living in
Craig County in 1860 and according to marriage records, his wife, and my ggg
grandmother, was Margaret Walker.

Thanks again for all your help. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Mike Peters
