Hello,

Could someone please help me to interpret the following information from
FAUQUIER FAMILIES, page 367?

"Wheatley, James. 59M/George, 78C, 83-89J-Sr.-95G."

I know that it means he lived in the southern part of the county in
1759, and was living with George Wheatley, and appeared on Commissioner
Thomas Marshall's list. Since George Wheatley was responsible for
paying the tax, approximately how old was he in 1759?

I get from "78C" that he was still in the southern part in 1778, and was
on Commissioner Landon Carter's tax list, and I assume he was
responsible for paying his own tax then.

The next part is what confuses me: 83-89J-Sr.-95G. Does it mean that
James, Sr. was on Augustine Jennings tax list from 1783 through 1789?
And what does the "-95G" mean? Was he still referring to James, Sr.? I
know "G" referred to Commissioner Peter Grant. Was the entire entry for
James, Sr.?

If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, if anyone has any information on the WHEATLEY family, I would love
to hear from you, too.

Warm regards,
Sharon Clark
