Subscribers to VA-ROOTS will be interested in a recently published book:
Craig Kilby, comp., Lancaster County, Virginia Will Book 10 (1709-1727). Abstracted and annotated, it is available December 2014 from New Papyrus Publishing (Athens, GA)
Other than what brief treatment is given to its contents in Ida J. Lee's 1959 Abstracts Lancaster County, Virginia, Wills 1653-1800, the full contents of Will Book 10 have never before been compiled or published. Its 560 pages of the often cramped and difficult handwriting span nearly two decades and the terms of three court clerks.
This work includes three appendices which shed additional light on the period of time covered-a general index to contents and principle parties, a digest of unrecorded wills from 1707-1729 with names of principle heirs, and an index to unrecorded inventories on microfilm. A comprehensive and expanded index of every name and event rounds out the book.
