There never has been a Manchester County (just in a recent popular novel). Manchester, Virginia was an independent city formed from Chesterfield County in the late 1800s and merged with the City of Richmond in 1910. Early records would be Chesterfield County records, and the rest are now city of Richmond records. The Library of Virginia's Guide to Municipal Records would give a good idea of what remains along with their online listings. This is one more example of the joys of our city-county separation, county-city merger, and city-city merger history.

Did you find your man, Richard, in the 1910 census?

Looking for information on a Nancy Pace who married Charles Amos Breeden in
Fluvanna County in 1900. The marriage certificate says she
Was from Manchester County. I cannot find anything on Manchester County,
Did it become part of Henrico County?

She was the daughter of Richard Pace and Mary Susan Gregory Pace. Richard
was born in Fluvanna and died in a railroad accident prior to 1913.
I am trying to find where they were living at the time of his death. He was
the brother of my grandfather, John Walker Pace, also of Fluvanna.
