The Virginia Genealogical Society announces the release of Index to
Virginia Estates, 1800-1865, Volume 8. See the VGS website for further

The index covers counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie,
Greensville, Henrico, James City, Prince George, Surry and Sussex, as well
as the cities of Petersburg, Richmond, and Williamsburg. Although the
focus is primarily items found in will books, the index also includes
references to estate records found in other publications for the period,
including records collections at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the
Library of Virginia, Earl Gregg Swem Library.

The compiler, Wesley E. Pippenger, will also be at the upcoming NGS
Conference in Richmond, Va., from May 16 to 20. Copies at the conference
will be available from the Society's booth.
