Ms. Anita, be sure to check "Godey's Ladies Book" for the styles of the middle half of the 19th century after the Victorian influence came to the American scene. Also check the works of the great painters from those periods, bearing in mind, however, that most depicted folks in more dressy apparel.

  Subject: 18TH-19TH CENTURY DRESS

I am writing an article that covers the Eighteenth & Nineteenth century, and need assistance. Where can I find information on varying styles of clothing? What would have been the attire of slaves, Indentured Servants, the Middling Classes, and the Upper classes. I believe there was a recent thread about this, and I did not join in. I would appreciate assistance, or direction to another site.
