The next program in the Virginia Heritage Resource Center's Mining the
Treasure House Lecture series will take place at noon on Wenesday, 20
February, 2002, in the conference rooms adjacent to the lobby in the Library
of Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond.

The speaker will be Dr. Philip J. Schwarz, Professor of History at Virginia
Commonwealth University in Richmond, who has written extensively on topics
related to African-American history. The title of his talk is, "Migrants
Against Slavery: Virginians' Attempts to leave Slavery Behind." He is the
author of several books, including "Migrants Against Slavery: Virginians and
Nation," published in 2001 by University Press of Virginia.
