People at the library have been generous in helping me out so I want to
share some of my finds here for them and others to enjoy. It concerns a
very hard to find family yet one who were prominent in the Richmond (Henrico
Co.) community.
Francis Valville Sutton, Sr. (often only seen as F.V. Sutton)
born: March 1795 in Caroline Co., VA
died: September 29, 1871 in Richmond, Henrico Co., VA
(son of James Sutton and second wife Elizabeth Taylor)
His death was hard to locate as he is not shown in the Richmond papers and
erroneously listed in the Petersburg "Daily Progress" paper only as F.T.
Sutton.
He died of old age and listed in the Bureau of Vital Statistics Registery of
Deaths of 1871, Line 1286. Was seen still living in the 1870 census for
Henrico Co., VA / Monroe Ward (Series: M593, Roll: 1654, Page 259B, Line
29) with his son Hawes (misspelled Hall on the census) and as a "teacher",
age 75.
He was married to Elizabeth Ann Garnett (daughter of James I. Garnett) who
was born c.1800 and died after 1850 (does anyone have her stats?)
They had the following children:
