"Genealogy Without Documentation is Nothing" - Paul Drake

Hi all,

I have rec'd a copy of an original document supposedly signed by a certain
individual. I have poured over my old handwriting samples and still cannot
determine this person's last name.

I have uploaded this signature at
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hatWmIm.htm

I would appreciate some handwriting experts taking a look and giving me your
best guess on this surname. I also can't translate the words after the
signature and wonder if the "colon" has a purpose or are these dots just ink
blobs. This doc was signed in 1680.

This person's name is clearly mentioned in the body of the doc. Would there
be any reason he would sign under another name? Perhaps also known under an
alias?

The best I have been able to do is to think the last 3 letters are "tre"

Thanks!
Nel
