My rock wall is James W. Mears.  In 1880 he is in the Census in Norfolk Co, 
living on Western Branch.
In the family are his wife Martha Jane Norsworthy Hines who he married in 
1868.   My grandmother, Eugenia was 9.
He is listed as having been born in 1824.
He is buried in Portsmouth.

In 1870 they are in Nansemond County, living at Chuckatuck; Eugenia was born 
later that year.

According to Ancestry, he does not appear in the 1860 Census, but one of 
that name and age are in the 1850 census with a wife Caroline.

I know he was married before and had children, but I have never heard of his 
first wife's name.
