Grace,

Pittsylvania Co., VA was created from a part of Halifax Co., VA in
1766/1767, and Henry Co., VA was formed from a part of Pittsylvania in
1776/1777 (and then Patrick Co., VA was created from a part of Henry in
1790/1791). There was a Robert Hall who was closely associated with my
Davidson family in Henry Co., VA and then later in Patrick Co., VA (they
purchased a piece of land together from a Joshua Hudson). As a matter of
fact, the Hall and Davidson families MAY have intermarried, since there was
later a man named Robert Davidson (and "Robert" had apparently never been
used as a given name in my Davidson family before). Robert Hall and his
wife Mary Isom had a son in Patrick Co., VA in 1806 who was also named
Robert Hall. As mentioned above, the Hudson family was also closely
associated with the Davidson and Hall families, and there were even some men
in that family earlier who were named HALL Hudson (see more below). The
above Robert Hall obviously "came along" sometime after your John Hall, but
I would not be too surprised if they were related (though "Hall" was
probably a fairly common surname).

While the following people may or may not have been "connected" to your John
Hall, the "link" below will take you to a website on the family of Hall
Hudson....who was born about 1699, and who died in 1778 in Amelia Co., VA.
One of his sons was named Benjamin Hudson, and the website shows that
another son named Obediah Hudson "I" eventually lived in Pittsylvania and
Henry Co., VA. It seems apparent that this was the SAME Hudson family that
was later associated with the Davidson and Hall families in Henry Co., VA by
the late-1700s. I don't know if this early Hall Hudson had his given name
because of some even earlier Hall/Hudson marriage, but that would certainly
not surprise me too much. Perhaps the Hall and Hudson families had known
each other back in the 1600s, and maybe some of them migrated together to
the Halifax/Pittsylvania Co., VA area. By 1794, the Joshua Hudson from this
family....who was closely associated with Goulder Davidson and Robert Hall
in Henry Co., VA....had moved to Stokes Co., NC.

Maybe the above will be of some help.
