The next program in the Virginia Heritage Resource Center's Mining the
Treasure House lecture series will take place on Wednesday, 16 October,
2002, in the conference rooms adjacent to the lobby in the Library of
Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond.

The speaker will be Dr. Warren Billings, Professor of History at the
University of New Orleans. The title of his talk is, "In Search of Sir
William Berkeley." Dr. Billings is an expert in Seventeenth-Century Virginia
history, and he is the author The Berkeley Papers, Sir William Berkeley: A
Virginian's Biography, among other titles. Sir William Berkeley was royal
governor of Virginia from 1642-1652 and 1660-1677, and was a central figure
in the famous Bacon's Rebellion.
