Seek information on James S. Scott who married in 1801 in Alexandria,
Virginia to Mrs. Mary Adgate. He died in 1843. Occupation was a taylor or
habitmaker. Also seek information on a Bennett Scott who was of Alexandria
but moved by 1812 to Henrico County, Virginia (Richmond) where he married
Ann T. Pulliam. Their daughter Harriett Virginia Scott married 1849 in
Houston, Texas to William Thompson. John and James Scott were
tailors/taylors and habit makers of Alexandria, and had a store on King
Street. James S. Scott was in partnership with John S. Scott, but that
partnership was dissolved by 1801. On the 1799 Alexandria city census for
the 2nd ward, a household by Jno. & Jas. Scott & wife, taylors &
habitmakers, includes boarders Jno. Tarlton, Thos. Pope, Charles Gretter,
Bennet Scott, and Jno. Evans. Bennett Scott is taxed for personal property
in 1800, but seems to disappear soon thereafter. Primarily interested in
parentage or origin of either of Bennett Scott, John S. Scott or James S.
Scott. Thanks. Wes Pippenger, [log in to unmask]
