I have read that when a male tithable appears as an independant tithable,
that they had to be of age. I am assuming that of age meant 21 or older. Is
this accurate information? My ancestor was 17-19 years of age on the
tithable list, and he was counted seperately from his family. How could he
have been counted seperately if he was not of age?
