Earlier this year I put out a call on the listserv for volunteers
willing to participate in a focus group to update General Schedule 06
for Public Works, Planning, Engineering, Building Inspection and Zoning
Departments. The last update of that schedule was in 1996. The focus
group was made up of records officers and members of different divisions
within the public works offices from around the state. We worked to 1)
identify the necessary series for inclusion, 2) assign appropriate
titles and descriptions, and 3) develop retention periods that would
suit multiple needs. After many months of meetings, the group has
reached consensus that our current draft meets those goals.
 
For interested parties, please review the attached draft or pass it on
to those that may have an interest in the document but are not
subscribed to the listserv. 
 
Specifically:
Are there any records created that are not represented on the schedule
(or any other schedule)?
Are there any series on this schedule that might be confused with a
series on another schedule?
Are there any code or regulation citations not mentioned that may affect
a series?
Are the series descriptions clear and understandable?
