The retention schedules from other state and federal agencies have it as
permanent retention (if the legislation passes) and for the documents to
stay within the agency for X amount of years for Q&A before shipping to
state/fed archives.
If legislation did not pass it is more like four to six years following the
close of fiscal in which created and then shipped to state/fed archives and
left to them to decide.
Hope this helps

Executive Branch agencies perform the analysis of legislation submitted during the General
Assembly session and provide a summary of that analysis to the Governor for his review.  The
Legislative Action Summary (LAS) is the vehicle for this analysis.  The analysis contained in
the LAS serves as the basis for the Governor's recommendation to support or oppose a bill.  The
Governor's Policy Office coordinates the Governor's review of LASs and notifies the Secretary of
Public Safety of the Governor's position on a bill.  The Secretary of Public Safety subsequently
notifies the Department of Juvenile Justice of the Governor's determination.

Folks -

At a meeting this morning, Mike Salster and I were discussing the
disposition of Legislative Action Summary (LAS) files. A quick perusal of
the index to State general records schedules failed to turn anything
up....so 2 questions:

1. Do other agencies have these files (I'm quite sure they must); and
2. Has anyone out there found an existing series that covers these files?

All assistance gratefully received.

Cheers!

Mark
