Sheri,

No, you do not.  Your finance department is keeping the original and
record copies of the check, so what you are maintaining is considered a
courtesy copy or duplicate.  You can destroy your duplicate at any time
without reporting the destruction, as finance is responsible for
reporting the destruction of the record copies.
