Our attorney's office notifies staff of any legal holds. If any RM-3s come through my office for signature, I would not approve them if there was a legal hold.
My question would be how do we get the IT department to cooperate with the records retention schedules. Are there legal penalties for not complying? If so, what are they and who is penalized? What happens if the records retention officer cannot force the IT department to comply?

My question is who specifically is responsible for "ensuring that all known
audits, investigations, or litigation is resolved" prior to destruction? Is this
done by the requesting department or the Records Officer?
Also, do you agree with how you are currently doing it?
