The seminar will address the following items:

Imaging: What The Vendors Don't Tell You - Session time: 1 hour, 15 min.

This presentation examines practical considerations of imaging system
implementation that are often not covered during the system demo and sale,
including when imaging makes sense and when it does not.  Other topics
include calculating realistic scanning needs, pros and cons of various
indexing methodologies, and real-world image quality considerations.  

Electronic Document Management: What's Hot, What's Not, What to Be Wary
About  - Session time: 1 hour 15 minutes

This presentation provides a definition of current document management
technology, a context in which to understand recent product developments and
implications of the industry's new directions.  The session's objectives are
to:

§     Explore the evolution of technology options available for managing
content, including document repository managers, document component managers
and digital asset management software
§     Examine industry trends driving document management software vendors
to realign and restructure their products around knowledge management or
e-commerce
§     Discuss the implications of these changes on records management

Specific vendors and products are cited as examples of various technology
approaches.  Such mention should not be construed as an endorsement or

real-life case studies.  The session closes with a look at coming changes
and future developments in software, including auto classification,
electronic signatures, and application service providers.  Topics covered

Speaker BIOGRAPHY: 

Julie Gable, CRM, CDIA, MIT, LIT

Julie Gable is the Principal of Gable Consulting, an independent firm that
works with clients to bring business perspectives to information management
issues. The firm sells no hardware or software of any kind.  Ms. Gable has
more than 25 years experience in the analysis, design, selection and
implementation of document-based information management systems,
specializing in paper and electronic records management, document image
processing, and document management.  Clients include pharmaceutical
companies, financial services firms, manufacturers, government and
utilities. 

Ms. Gable is the Associate Executive Editor of The Information Management
Journal, published by ARMA International.  She is a Contributing Editor for
TRANSFORM Magazine (formerly Imaging and Document Solutions Magazine), where
her column "The Information Management Lifecycle" appears bi-monthly.  Her
articles have also appeared in InfoPro, The Records Management Quarterly,
The Records and Retrieval Report, Imaging World, and Gartner Group
information services. She is a frequent speaker on information management
topics at national and international conferences.  

Ms. Gable holds a BS in Management from Drexel University and an MBA in
Finance from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.  She has served in
various Chapter leadership positions within ARMA International and the
Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM). Her professional
credentials include CompTIA's Certified Document Imaging Architect (CDIA)
and AIIM's Master of Information Technology, and Laureate in Document
Management designations.  She is a Certified Records Manager (CRM).
