VERY Interesting - I got this thru the Listserv but NOT the blind copy!

Ches is actually starting to promote use of social networking, too. I tried to get a statement from IT to respond to this as well, but IT has not responded. Don't you just love the forethought that has gone into this. Imagine the RM consequences! And we think we have problems with digital records and email!

Sorry for the delay in a response. Per Nicole McGee, Emergent Technologies=
Librarian with the City of Virginia Beach:

"The City of Virginia Beach offers podcasts from several departments, a Twi=
tter profile, and a Facebook Fan page. Our website, http://www.vbgov.com, =
also offers RSS feeds. A few departments are using MySpace to promote teen=
-related events and information to young adults, and several departments ha=
ve their own Facebook Fan pages. The Library department has been using wik=
is and blogs primarily for internal use, although there is now an external =
blog, VBPL Recommends. The Library also offers text-a-librarian and IM refe=
rence services for the public. The City also recently installed Microsoft C=
ommunicator on staff computers, so employees can now use IM for quick commu=
nication."

Thank You,

Susan Marziani

Records Management Supervisor
