Library of Virginia To Close on Mondays

Effective October 21, 2002, the reading rooms of the Library of Virginia
will be closed to the public on Mondays. The public will not be able to use
the Library's collections for research on Mondays. Visitors will be able to
view the Library's exhibitions on the first floor, purchase food in the café
and purchase items in the Library Shop on Mondays.
The reading rooms of the Library of Virginia will now be open Tuesday
through Saturday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. The reading rooms will be open
with limited staff on Saturdays, except for holiday weekends, as posted on
the Library's Web site www.lva.lib.va.us. This change is necessitated by a
22 percent cut in the Library's operating budget this fiscal year and the
loss of 40 positions.

Currently this affects only the Public Service areas. The Records Center
and the balance of the RMISD staff will be working Mondays through Friday.
