Dear Eric:

I can relate to your friend's heartburn about sailing and gun crew abilities!
You are right on about Hollywood, there will always be something they
overlook or don't do right. One of my other addictions besides living
history/history/geneaology is horses. I have been riding since I was seven both English
and Western, can jump 3 feet, have ridden all over the country including
ranches out west, herded cows, team penned, shown in both English and Western
shows, foxhunt, carriage drive and am a mounted CW cavalry bugler ;-0! My
friends and I who are cavalry living historians always can tell when an actor can't
ride and it adds to the enjoyment of the movie when you have actors that can
REALLY ride! It really takes away from the moment when a "cavalry
commander" has to "grab leather", lol!
