Subject: Church Hill North

I was asked to do a monthly historical article for the local CHA (Church
Hill Association) newsletter which is distributed in hard copy at front
doors in C.H. and online at their website. My second article is about the
movie theatres in Church Hill.

What puzzles me is the lack of historical documentation and photographs for
Church Hill North (or anything North of Broad) even if it was part of
Henrico County early on. I am seeking photographs of the old Patrick Henry
Theatre which stood at 406 N 25th between 1933-1967 and the East End Theatre
at 418-422 N 25th which was built in 1938 and is still standing. Wanting to
see what they looked like while in operation. The Valentine and Virginia
Historical neither have a file or photos of either of these buildings.

Why is there such a lack of history in this area (which also encompassed
Shed Town) and does anyone here know of any photos available to include in
the article of these Theatres?

Seems about time for a book and some deep research.

Thanks!
Eric Huffstutler
