The real reason is to state facts and research not political correctness as
some people do. My goal is not to discuss the slavery issue but to tell
others that just because he owned slaves there is NO proof that he fathered
Sally's kids. 

I am not familiar with anyone heaping dishonor upon the Hemings or Woodson
families. I have met most from both families at the Monticello Assn. annual
gatherings and find them fine, decent and caring about their family
genealogy. It is a SIMPLE matter of a claim against fact. Let us be fair
here.....not political correctness.

Perhaps now you understand why the heat in the discussion of the paternity 
of Sally Hemings children. It is to preserve "the honor" of a man who 
destroyed his own "honor" with how he chose to live his life. And we are to 
continue to "honor" him in death by heaping "dishonor" on those whose family

knowledge says he was their father?

Neil protests the lack of "civility" in the NY Times article, but not 
because the spoke of the dishonorable cartoons which attempt to shame the 
people's choice for current president. He's apparently OK with all the 
monkey jokes. But not with comparing one evil to another.
