James Branch Cabell Library, Special Collections and Archives at Virginia
Commonwealth University is pleased to announce the release of the website
for the Archives of the New Dominion
(http://www.library.vcu.edu/newdominion). Funded by a grant from the
National Historical Publications and Records Commission, the Archives of
the New Dominion initiative reaches out to Central Virginia’s Hispanic,
gay and lesbian, African-American, and women’s activist communities to
locate, secure and make accessible their recorded history. The history of
these four communities in Central Virginia is rich but, unfortunately, not
adequately documented.

The website serves as the principal electronic tool in our proactive
approach to contact these “under-documented” communities. Individuals
interested in the project may visit one of the four community links on the
website for more information. No organization or individual is too small
or too young to begin the process of documenting their history.

For more information please contact Alex Lorch at (804) 828-1108 or by
electronic mail at [log in to unmask]
