Early on the morning of 20 January 1907 Ed Baker, described as a "one
leg Italian" with a "bad face," escaped from the State Convict Road
Force camp near Williamsburg. With only an eight minute head start,
Baker managed to elude guards and local citizens for hours before he was
finally recaptured. Check out today's blog post for more on Ed Baker's
thwarted escape attempt and the State Convict Road Force.
