Mr. Wiencek,

A number of the the records of the Freedman's Bureau have been transcribed and can be accessed at http://www.freedmensbureau.com/ . There is an ongoing project transcribing the records and some states have much more data available than others. I'm currently working on a project involving Reconstruction Louisiana, please let me know if I can assist you.

A friend of mine needs to do some research in the records of the Freedman's
Bureau in Maryland. The University of Maryland has been doing a big
Freedman's Bureau project and I'm wondering if they have transcribed and
indexed their records. Any suggestions about the MD records will be
gratefully received.
