I am not sure if this is directed to me personally or to the list as a whole. I have not read the book mentioned.

My focus on Virginia is on the foreign missionary efforts of the Protestant Episcopal Church in China, staffed by several folk over time from Virginia Theological Seminary.

In specifics, I am looking at the life of Lydia Mary Fay, a Vermont Presbyterian recruited to the mission from Virginia in 1850. She worked for ten years as a governess-teacher in Virginia (1839-1849) working for a number of elite families, including the Dulany's (Meth Epis I think) and Carters. In 1840 she became an Episcopalian at Christ Church, Alexandria. She was principal of Midway Female Academy (up the road from Tappahannock) for several years and attended Episcopal churches, having a few thoughts along the way about 'Methodistical' trends in the local Episcopalian ministers. All of which led me to look at the Episcopal Church in broad detail from the Revolution to the Civil War and the rise and decline of evangelicalism among Episcopalians over the years. I have been looking in general terms at wider Episcopalian issues along the way.
