Call for Submissions of Images for the

2003 Virginia Archives Week Poster

“A Commonwealth of Cultures: Virginia's Archives and Special Collections”

Once again, the MARAC VA Caucus, in conjunction with the Library of
Virginia and the Library of Virginia Foundation, will be producing a
poster as part of the celebration of Archives Week in Virginia. This
year’s theme, “A Commonwealth of Cultures: Virginia's Archives and Special
Collections,” is related to the overall MARAC theme, “Discovering the
Culture within Archives.

We are anxious to illustrate the unique cultures of the Commonwealth and
her people. We welcome submissions of images (photographs or images of
documents, ephemera, etc.) that represent the many communities and
ethnicities found in Virginia.

This is your opportunity to help increase awareness about archives and
special collections throughout Virginia . There is no limit to the number
of submissions per institution, so feel free to send a variety of images.

Posters will be distributed to MARAC Virginia Caucus members as well as
other organizations and institutions throughout Virginia and the region.

Details regarding the submission of images are as follows:

Theme: “A Commonwealth of Cultures: Virginia's Archives and Special
Collections”
Deadline: July 1, 2003 (make this bigger and bolder?)

Format: Images may be submitted as slides, duplicate photographic prints
or CD (8x10, 300 dpi, in your choice of file formats – jpeg, tiff, etc.).
Please note: email submissions will NOT be accepted! If you have an image
you would like to submit but are  unable to achieve format requirements,
please contact Laura E. Drake (see below for contact information) to see
if we might be able to make arrangements to format your image(s).

Required information to be included with images:
 Institution Name
 Photographer (if known)
 Date of Image (photographs)
 Citation Information for Image
 Name and Institutional Affiliation of Person Submitting Image
 Contact Information for Person Submitting Image, including phone
number and email address
