Va-Histers,
The scanning of the Augusta County chancery causes began in February
2011 with that portion of records dated from 1867 to 1912 - we have now
posted images from 1867 to 1895. Case files dated from 1745 to 1866
required additional processing (arrangement, indexing, and conservation)
by LVA archival staff and will be scanned after the 1867 to 1912 portion
is complete. While I cannot provide an exact date on when the scanning
will begin on the second group, I can say that all Augusta scanning will
be completed by January 2013. As many researchers know, the pre-1913
Augusta chancery collection is by far the largest in Virginia so a two
year scanning project timeline is a actually a very quick turnaround.
