AUTHOR ROBERT TROUT LECTURE IN WARRENTON FOR THE FAUQUIER HERITAGE
INSTITUTE

Mr. Robert Trout, noted author and J. E. B. Stuart expert will speak for
the Fauquier Heritage Institute on Sunday, 15 August at the John Barton
Payne Building in Old Town Warrenton across from the Old Jail Museum at
3:00 pm. This is a not to miss lecture from the author of the following
books plus research projects:

First book They Followed the Plume (published by Stackpole Books in
1993) He wanted to know as much about the staff as possible but found
very little information available about the men. In fact, the author
discovered that there was very little written about any general's staff,
and gave him the idea of writing a history of Stuart's staff. He spent
seven years researching and writing the book.

Second book, Riding with Stuart: Reminiscences of an
Aide-de-Camp by Theodore S. Garnett, which he edited, was published by
White Mane in 1994.

Third book, With Pen and Saber: The Letters and Diaries of
J. E. B. Stuart's Staff Officers was published by Stackpole Books in
1995.

Fourth book, In the Saddle with Stuart: The Story of Frank
Smith Robertson of Jeb Stuart's Staff was published by Thomas
Publications in July 1998.

Fifth book, a history of the Stuart Horse Artillery
Battalion entitled Galloping Thunder: The Stuart Horse Artillery
Battalion was published by Stackpole Books in June 2002.

Sixth book, The Hoss: Officer Biographies and Rosters of the
Stuart Horse Artillery Battalion was published by the author in a
limited edition of 500 signed and numbered copies in May 2003.

They Followed the Plume was out of print but has been
published again in paperback by Stackpole Books.

His most recent book is Memoirs of the Stuart Horse Artillery
Battalion: Moorman's and Hart's Batteries, which was published by the
University of Tennessee Press in 2008.

A second book of memoirs will be published by University of
Tennessee Press in 2010.

He is presently writing a campaign history of cavalry
operations in the Eastern Theater following the Gettysburg campaign up
until the end of 1863.

Asked by a number of his fellow educators at his school to
write something for children, he wrote Drumbeat, the story of a drummer
boy during the war. This was his first foray into fiction. White Mane
Kids published Drumbeat in 2006. His second middle grade novel will be
published this year. Entitled The Story of Red Eye: The Miracle Horse of
Gettysburg, the book is a fictional accounting of the life of Red Eye,
the horse that Brig. Gen. Richard B. Garnett rode during Pickett's
Charge. Garnett was killed but, according to one account, Red Eye was
last seen running back to the Confederate line on Seminary Ridge.

He has also done research for several artists and sculptors,
including Ron Lesser, Dale Gallon, and Andrew Chernak
