(1833-1906) . . . born in Halifax County . . . VMI class of 1854 (VMI  
archives has no images) . . . married Mary Evelyn Anderson (1835-1916,  
dgtr of Francis Thomas Anderson, President of W&L, Annderson papers  
also at Duke and UVA) . . . owner and resident of Berry Hill  
plantation . . . father of Malcolm, Walter and Ellen Douglas Bruce.

Directions to any unpublished papers also appreciated.

1853-1854 the focus of my research.
