In a discussion forum that was formed when the NY Times took down its
forums, we are discussing the Rountree book on Pocahontas, and a discussion
has erupted on Thomas Jefferson.

One of the posters said she heard a bit of trivia that Jefferson invented a
"contraption" to allert him if his son was masterbating in bed. Of course, I
know that Jefferson had no son, so something in the bit of a tale is wrong.
Has anyone else heard such a story? Does anyone know what the truth is?
