The person who could best answer this question is professor David Shores,
just recently retired from Old Dominion Univ. in Norfolk. (I'm a retired
Americn lit. specialist from Va. Commonwealth Univ. in Richmond.)  You can
get David's email addess from the English Dept. at ODU. a published
specialist in East Coast dialects and would be happy to answer your
question.
