As I understand it, many of the congressmen's names in "Lincoln" were changed due to changes in sensibilities since the 1860s.

Subject: [VA-HIST] NEW QUESTION-

In the NEW Movie Lincoln based on Kearns's book there is a reference to a representative named Hawkins from the west, I thought the movie said Ohio.
I have not been able to find a Hawkins serving in the House at this time in history. There is a Hawkins from Tennessee, but he does not look like the correct person.
I am interested because the Hawkins's of Shenandoah Valley are my ancestors.
The family left Shenandoah after 1810 to go to Kentucky then to Missouri.
Some split off and went to Ohio and Indiana. This group served in the Union Army, while others in Texas served in the CSA.
I have written Kearns's website to inquire who she is talking about and after 2 weeks of waiting no reply. Since this is supposedly an accurate portrayal of events, so who is she talking about?

Any help will be appreciated.

John Philip Adams
Texas
