RELIC PROGRAMS
Here are our latest offerings. Funding for RELIC programs is provided
by the Friends of Central and Bull Run Libraries. Sign language
interpretation is available for Prince William Public Library programs

WRITING FAMILY STORIES
Presented by Phyllis Legare
Family stories are wonderful: they enthrall and engage
family members of all ages. Stories give substance to family traits and
bring generations together. Find out about tools and techniques for
capturing and documenting your family's stories. You can start out
small to get comfortable writing and then branch out. Don't wait - get
started right away. This program, by veteran teacher and certified
genealogist Phyllis Legare will be presented at Bull Run Regional
Library on Sunday, March 20, at 2 p.m.

WHO'S YOUR CIVIL WAR ANCESTOR?
Presented by Don Wilson
This year is the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the
Civil War. More than 620 thousand persons lost their lives during the
war of 1861-65. It resulted in more than one million casualties in a
total population of 30 million. The war resulted in the emancipation of
four million enslaved persons. Every family in the United States was
affected by this tragic and heroic conflict.
If your family lived in the United States during that time,
you can find a personal link to those events. What exciting stories
could your ancestors tell? RELIC's Don Wilson will show how to find
out in a program presented at Bull Run Regional Library on Thursday,
April 7, at 11 a.m. He will describe sources and techniques for
tracking persons living at that time and what personal actions they may
have taken.

RESEARCH AT THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS

The Library of Congress is a wonderful storehouse of the
nation's history. For many people living in our region, the Library may
be a short distance away, but they are overwhelmed by the number of
collections and the traffic challenges of going there to do research.
There is a less painful route: Certified Genealogist Diane Giannini
will demonstrate how you can utilize the vast online genealogical
resources of the Library of Congress from the comfort of your own home,

"Genealogy Doctor" Accepting Appointments for Research Help
Don Wilson, head of RELIC (the Ruth E. Lloyd Information Center for
genealogy and local history at Bull Run Regional Library), sets aside
time each month for free private sessions to mentor persons researching
their family history. A thirty-minute session can be used to discuss
and analyze an historical or genealogical problem that has stumped you.
Daytime and evening hours are possible. To set up an appointment,
