Thanks, Jon, for the cogent mini-lesson.

What with all the rumpus today over USA Patriot Act, terrorism and "watch
what you say," religion in public life, I wonder if the Bill of Rights,
exactly as written, were put to an "up or down vote" by the entire
electorate, would it pass?
