Newcastle appears on the Fry Jefferson Map just above Assequia? Creek. On the Wood Map for Hanover of 1820 a road leads to Newcastle Ferry which crossed the Pamunkey about half way between Hanover town above and Piping Tree warehouse/ferry below. The latter map does not indicate it was still in existence by then. Both maps can be viewed in the digital map collection on line at the LVA site--Mick Nicholls
