*The Great War: Researching Your World War I Ancestors*

Michael L. Strauss, AG

Researching World War I ancestors can be challenging. Records were lost in
the 1973 fire at the National Personnel Record Center in St. Louis. Privacy
laws have been strengthened. Family memories dim. Mr. Strauss will focus on
ways to reconstruct military service for family who served their country
including records of draft registrations, war casualties, troop manifests,
and many other related records.

Michael L. Strauss, AG, is a nationally recognized genealogical lecturer
residing in Utah. He is a forensic investigator and qualified expert
witness in Court in NY, NJ, PA, and VA where he testifies on kinship
matters. Strauss is a faculty member at SLIG (Salt Lake Institute of
Genealogy), GRIP (Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh), and IGHR
(Institute of Genealogical & Historical Research) where he is the
Coordinator for the Military Course. He has a BA in history and is a U.S.
Coast Guard veteran and have been involved in Civil War reenacting for more
than 25 years. [log in to unmask]
