A couple of entries from the Fairfax County Minute Book:
July 1765; Justices presiding: John West, John Carlyle, George Mason,
Charles Broadwater, Wm. Adams, Edw. Blackburn - Gent. Justs.  "Ordered
that the Churchwardens of Truro Parish to bind Geo. Manley mullato child
about 4 months old to Paul Turley according to Law."

16 Sept '65: Justices presiding: Daniel McCarty, John Carlyle, Charles
Broadwater, Sampson Darrell, Edw. Blackburn, Gent. Justs. : "Ordered
that Churchwardens of Fairfax parish bind Nathaniel Mathers a mulatto
Child two years the 26th day of March last to John Watson accg to Law."
