Dear Subscribers:

Yesterday I joined the ranks of those unhappy contributors who meant to
send a message to another subscriber, but who instead broadcast the
message to the entire list.  My comments were rather personal and
anecdotal in nature--not the sort of thing that necessarily moves an
intellectual discussion very far--and I apologize for my blunder.
